Trevor Noah unpacks day 1 of Trump's impeachment trial

We're one day into the impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump and things are already hectic.

Trump's legal team, including defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, have swung into action in the Senate, putting forward their argument that the president "did absolutely nothing wrong," and that "Abuse of Power is not an Impeachable Offense."

The Daily Show's Trevor Noah explained Dershowitz's humdinger of an argument, which has changed completely since he argued the opposite when Bill Clinton was impeached. "Right now he's saying that an abuse of power is not an impeachable offense, but back in the '90s, he says it was," said Noah. "And I mean look, we all did something we regret in the '90s. I walked around in that Missy Elliot [referring to the rapper's ironically inflatable outfit from the 1997 video "The Rain"] for a whole year. Every time I left the house the garbageman tried to throw me in the truck."

Noah takes absolute delight in Dershowitz's “I wasn't wrong, I am just far more correct right now than I was then" line, that he threw at CNN's Anderson Cooper.

"Wait what?" said Noah. "That is one the most original lines I have ever heard in my life. And that's a great line for a lawyer, but thank god this guy doesn't work on a bomb squad."

Noah, like Stephen Colbert, also unpacked the weird rules the Senate must abide by in the trial, as imposed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Yeah, this is already a lot.
