It's Christmas time at the White House, which means that the world is once again given a small glimpse at the decked out halls.

We had high, high hopes for this year's decorations, because as you may recall Melania weirdly started planning them in JULY, smack dab in the middle of Robert Mueller's first hearing on Capitol Hill. (We see what you did there, girl.)

The 2018 White House decorations were brutally criticized because they included 40 infamously creepy blood red trees. And the 2017 decorations also looked remarkably terrifying. (I believe the words "hell on earth" were even tossed around.) So the White House really had to step up the decorating game this year to please the American people.

Melania definitely toned things down this year and took a more classic approach, free from strange-looking trees. While the 2019 decorations are fairly normal, they do include some creepy red-tinted lighting, a "Be Best" ornament, a glowing advent calendar that doesn't appear to have 25 days, and some flowers with visible bulbs.

According to Melania's tweet this year's decoration theme is "The Spirit of America." Do we, uh, think that translates?
