Firing up the grill is a summertime tradition, but not every cookout devotee is skilled in the art of barbecue. Luckily, one device and app combination claims to turn any iOS or Android device into a "grillmaster."
Called the BBiQ, it takes users through a BBQ recipe step-by-step, making the cooking process easier.
"It will keep an eye on your food and manage the grill, notifying you when something needs tending," co-creator Michael Raymond said on Kickstarter. "You pick a recipe, put the food on the grill and the BBiQ lets you know when to turn it, when to add seasoning and when it's ready to eat."
"It completely eliminates the 'hovering' and 'checking' normally associated with grilling. All you need to do is wait for the next alert notification, and the app will tell you what to do next," Raymond added.
The app is designed to work with or without the BBiQ device, although users need a temperature probe for it to function properly. If no BBiQ device is detected, the app informs users about target temperatures that need to be reached.
So far, the BBiQ has raised just over $5,000 of its $75,000 goal, with 39 days remaining in its campaign.
