Katie Couric Joins Yahoo as Global Anchor

Katie Couric will become a global anchor for Yahoo, the company announced on Monday.

Couric, the former Today and CBS newscaster, will start in 2014 and "cover the world’s most interesting stories and newsmakers," Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer wrote in a blog post. Mayer went on to say that Couric will be the "face of Yahoo News" and will shoot features for the homepage. The content appears to be a mixture of video and written material.

A deal to bring Couric to Yahoo had been in the works since August, according to AllThingsD. She has also worked with Yahoo on a limited basis with a feature called Katie's Take for Yahoo News that includes interviews with celebrities.

Yahoo has recently brought on other well-known journalists, including David Pogue, Virginia Heffernan and Matt Bai from The New York Times.
