Lady Gaga kicked off Super Bowl 50 with a stirring rendition of the national anthem that proved equally patriotic, powerful and pop song. The Mother Monster peppered her performance with riffs circa Christina Aguilera and extra high notes a la Mariah Carey, which are fitting as they are some of the the founding mothers of pop music.
