Can you say awkward?

Alec Baldwin is many extraordinary things—actor, comedian, and writer, to name a few—but the chief Donald Trump impersonator proved he's just like us when it comes to posting on Facebook: an awkward oversharer.

After Baldwin's new memoir, Nevertheless, was released on April 4, he decided to create a Facebook page to promote the novel and personally engage with readers.

Though fans were probably expecting a run-of-the-mill book plug, Baldwin used his first post to accuse his publisher, HarperCollins, of careless editing, and to rather uncomfortably set the record straight about his romantic feelings for a few leading ladies in comedy.

Yikes.

Last week, the official Twitter account for the Alec Baldwin Foundation tweeted a link to the memoir's supplemental Facebook page, a.k.a. home of the SNL star's innermost thoughts regarding his book.

After welcoming readers to the page, Baldwin explained he would be using the space to share supplemental material that didn't make the original edition of the memoir, and to make several corrections to both the physical text and implications that could be taken from his writing.

"The published edition contains SEVERAL typos and errors which I was more than a little surprised to see," Baldwin explained. "The editors at HarperCollins were, I imagine, too busy to do a proper and forensic edit of the material. Therefore, the first posting here, in the coming weeks, will be an index of corrections and amendments to the text in order to bring it more in line with my original intent."

Ooooof. Need some ice, HarperCollins?

After announcing he would be publicly dragging HarperCollins in the coming weeks, Baldwin launched right into his first correction/amendment: confessing he is not actually in love with his female idols. Awkwardddd.

"When I write that I am 'in love' with Megan Mulalley, or Kate McKinnon, or Tina Fey, I mean that I am in love with their talent," he wrote before making things even more uncomfortable. "As a happily married man who wants to stay that way (ahem), I wanted to clarify that."

Like, we get that you're just being a good husband and setting the record straight here, but it doesn't seem like this reeeeeeally needed clarification. Just let that group of Liz Lemon and Jack Donaghy shippers have their dreams, okay?

Nevertheless, (get it?) let these be valuable lessons for all:

  • Always ensure your book is properly copy edited BEFORE it's published.

  • The words "in love with" are not taken lightly, especially in a memoir.

  • Not even celebrities are immune to the unwieldy temptations to emotionally overshare on social media.
