Anna Kendrick playing a female Santa Claus? Disney is ho-ho-hopeful.
LOS ANGELES -- Christmas has come early this year: Anna Kendrick is in talks to play a female Santa Claus in the Disney project Nicole, Mashable has confirmed.
Plot details are scant at this point, and the project is still coming together -- so the dream of seeing the Pitch Perfect star in trimmed red fur may still belong with the sugarplums. But a director is set in Marc Lawrence (Miss Congeniality 2), who also wrote the script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the news Wednesday, it's a "holiday family adventure that centers on the coming of a female Santa." A source with knowledge of the project told Mashable that talks are indeed underway, though no dates for release or production start have been set.
THR also notes that Nicole is not a musical, but that Kendrick "may end up indulging her musical side."
Pour some milk into some Cups, set 'em by the chimney and hope for the best, we suppose.
