'Beauty and the Beast' teaser claws past 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' record
LOS ANGELES -- The Beast awakens.
You read that headline right: Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast teaser trailer is the most-viewed in the first 24 hours with 91.8 million peeps, beating out Star Wars: The Force Awakens, whose second teaser previously held that title with 88 million views.
Disney has more or less mastered the art of the tease – Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Age of Ultron had 61 milion and 34 million views, respectively, for the first day of their teaser trailers.

The Beauty and the Beast teaser debuted Monday morning on (Disney-owned) ABC’s Good Morning America, went online around the (not-yet-Disney-owned) globe and was re-shown that night on (Disney-owned) ABC’s premiere of The Bachelorette, that show where they are obsessed with roses.
The whole thing was like a synergy sausage that was chopped up and served on a synergy pizza.
Interestingly enough, the teaser for Beauty and the Beast only showed a rose-obscured glimpse of Belle (to be played by Emma Watson) -- and we only briefly hear the Beast (Dan Stevens). The very definition of “tease” being something roughly like “leave them wanting more.”
The first teaser starts the countdown clock to Beauty and the Beast, which debuts in the U.S. on March 17, 2017.
