Owner of Dracula's castle drives a stake through the heart of sale rumors
The owners of a castle rumored to have inspired the abode of Bram Stoker's Dracula are driving a stake through vampire-wannabes around the world.
Bran Castle is not for sale, the owners say, despite rumors that the Romanian landmark could be had for a cool $66 million.

Travel + Leisure reported the castle was up for sale, however the owners told Express in the UK the sale is the stuff of legends.
“We noticed some reports in the media, indicating that Bran Castle was put up for sale," said Alexandra Cojanu. "These reports, like so many others regarding Bran Castle being offered for sale, are all based upon various articles from 2007 to 2009, most of which are totally or partially erroneous. Bran Castle is not on the market."
The sale rumors join the Dracula rumors: There is debate about whether or not Stoker was describing this particular castle when he was writing about the vampire.
The castle and the novel do not exactly match up, yet the castle has maintained its status as Dracula's home, and the owners have little reason to dispel that myth: Thousands of tourists head there each year to get a taste of Transylvania.
Like Dracula, the sale myths reveal more about those interested in the castle than they do about the castle itself. The idea of living in a centuries-old, completely creepy, possibly haunted former home of a blood-sucking killer is just too good for people to give up on.
But not to worry, the castle is and will remain open to tourists.
