A major clue has us thinking 'Game of Thrones' trailer will be arriving very, very soon

It's just math.

Not to sound desperate, here, but isn't it about time we got a trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7, already?

This time last year, we'd seen three glorious episodes of Season 6; Jon Snow was back from the dead and all was right with the world.

But since 2017 is officially the darkest timeline, we have to wait until July 16 for our Thrones fix, which means that we've also been delayed on the release of all the associated accoutrements that come with a new season.

Luckily, the observant folks over at WhatCulture have noticed an intriguing pattern in the way the promotional materials for Season 7 are being revealed, which signals that a Season 7 trailer could be closer than we think.

Stick with us here: Thursday, March 9 saw the announcement of the Season 7 premiere date and a CGI teaser. Exactly three weeks later, Thursday, March 30 marked the release of "The Long Walk" teaser trailer, which featured a glimpse of three major characters in their Season 7 costumes and locations. Three weeks after that, on Thursday, April 20: The arrival of 15 Season 7 photos.

See what we're getting at?

Following the rule of three (weeks), the next major Game of Thrones release should come on Thursday, May 11 -- that's just basic math.

And, after a premiere date announcement, two teasers and the first batch of photos, it stands to reason that the next big thing should be a full trailer.

Of course, we're still two months away from the Season 7 premiere, and in previous seasons, the full trailer has debuted anywhere from three months to just over a month before the show returned -- so there's no way to predict when HBO will choose to drop the promo.

If the premium cable network is looking for a nice round number, Tuesday, May 16 would also be apropos, since it's exactly two months before Season 7 premieres -- but we know that the series is all about foreshadowing, so... maybe stick by your screen of choice on May 11?

And if we're wrong, just chalk it up to Game of Thrones withdrawals.
