Actor-turned-director George Clooney has a lot to say about the Hollywood aspirations of former White House chief strategist, Steve Bannon.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, Clooney told Vanity Fair that before his political days Bannon was a "schmuck who literally tried everything he could to sell scripts in Hollywood."

Clooney then brought up Bannon's unproduced 1990s screenplay, The Thing I Am. "It’s like a rap Shakespearean thing about the L.A. riots. It’s the worst script you’ve ever read," Clooney said before speculating that if Bannon were still in the Hollywood scene, "he would still be ... making movies and kissing my ass to make one of his films. That’s who he is."

Bannon, who before his White House days produced a handful of right-wing documentaries and helped found the alt-right website Breitbart, is back in the media and entertainment world with a 60 Minutes interview airing Sunday evening.

In a preview clip, Bannon tells Charlie Rose he's a "street fighter." He's now back at Breitbart after leaving the White House last month.

Earlier at the film festival, Clooney had even more to say about Bannon. The Suburbicon director told journalists: “Steve Bannon is a failed fucking screenwriter, and if you’ve ever read [his] screenplay, it’s unbelievable."

Once Clooney got going on Bannon he didn't stop. "I like picking fights," Clooney said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Breitbart called Clooney's remarks about its executive chairman an "attack."

Keep fighting, George.
