Idris Elba posts open casting call, gets way more than he bargained for
This was only ever going to end one way, to be fair.
Over the weekend, actor Idris Elba shared a post on Instagram advertising for paid extras for a film he's directing.
It was an open casting call, where people could turn up at any time within a five-hour time slot.
"Even a small part is a start," wrote Elba.
Turns out quite a few people agreed with him.
As the casting call got underway Monday, people began sharing pictures of the turnout.

Shortly before the casting call was due to end, Elba returned to Instagram to share the following video update.
In the video, Elba says the response has been unbelievable, and the casting would probably have to be shut down. He gives information on where to send a headshot.
In fairness, who wouldn't want to be in an Idris Elba film?
