What Apple's new iPhone and iPad Pro cost in Australia

Apple held its first event of 2016 in Cupertino, California, Monday, and, well, things got smaller. 

Both the iPhone and the iPad Pro got a reduction in size, and while the ongoing Apple versus the FBI fight over encryption coloured the event, there were still some exciting updates for the Apple fans — even a helpful robot named Liam.

The new, smaller iPhone will come in space grey, silver, gold and rose gold. In Australia, the two models, 16GB and 64GB, will start at A$679 and A$829, respectively.

Preorders begin online and in-store Thursday, March 24, California time, so that's March 25 for the Aussies. The device will be available in stores and online Thursday, March 31.

9.7-inch iPad Pro

Here are the full details about the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro, which also comes in silver, space grey, gold and rose gold. 

Prices starts at A$899 for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model, while 128GB with Wi-Fi is $1,149 and a whopping 256GB with Wi-Fi is A$1,399

If you want the Wi-Fi and Cellular model, prices start at A$1,099 for the 32GB, $1,349 for the 128GB and A$1,599 for the 256GB.

You can grab an Apple Pencil for A$165 and the Smart Keyboard in charcoal grey for A$229. The Polyurethane iPad Pro Smart Cover and Silicone Cases for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro are available in a range of colours at A$75 and A$109.

Preorders begin at the same time as the iPhone SE on Thursday, March 24, California time from Apple's website. The product will be available to purchase online and from Apple's stores and authorised resellers on Thursday, March 31.

Apple Watch

Apple also announced Monday it would be dropping the Apple Watch's pricing a smidgen.

In Australia, that means the Apple Watch Sport will start at A$429, slightly more affordable than its previous price of A$499. The Apple Watch Sport now starts at A$499, down from A$579.
