John Mulaney is coming back to host 'Saturday Night Live' in March

Here's hoping this means another round of movie reviews with Mulaney and his 'Saturday Night Live' pal, Pete Davidson.

John Mulaney is bringing his brand of dry, self-effacing humor back to Saturday Night Live.

The gifted comic, who is himself a former SNL writer, last hosted the show in April 2018. He was and is only the third former writer who wasn't also a cast member to get the hosting gig (after Conan O'Brien and Larry David, so pretty good company).

Now he's set to return on March 2, as was confirmed when he tweeted out the show's typical host announcement image from his own Twitter account. Thomas Rhett will be the night's musical guest.

Mulaney may be best known in 2019 for his stand-up work, which has led to collaborations with both Comedy Central and Netflix. He also voices one of the main characters in the Netflix series Big Mouth (in which he stars alongside frequent creative partner Nick Kroll), and he lent his voice to the character Spider-Ham in the 2018 animated hit, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.

More recently, Mulaney was in the news after he appeared alongside SNL cast member Pete Davidson in a January episode. Davidson had been keeping a low profile since December, when an alarming Instagram post led to a suicide scare.

His appearance alongside Mulaney wasn't Davidson's first time back on the show after the December incident, but it was the first time he really talked about what happened with the SNL audience. He also, along with Mulaney, delivered a searing review of Clint Eastwood's latest film.

It was a magical SNL moment.

Hopefully, Mulaney's imminent return also means we're also getting another movie review segment (lots of people demanded it after the last one).
