Getting down on bended knee is sooo 20th century.

27-year-old Michael Banks recently decided to propose to his girlfriend in the most dramatic way possible: on a mountain. He climbed 600 feet up Morro Rock in Morro Bay, California, to propose to his girlfriend via Facetime.

She said yes, but there was a slight complication -- he got stuck. And had to be rescued. On a helicopter.

Whoops.

On his way back down the mountain, Banks accidentally took a much steeper trail. He got stuck on a ledge, his feet hovering a mere 80 feet off the ground.

Rescuers then had to call in a helicopter, who hoisted him off the narrow ledge and carried him to safety. It wasn't an easy rescue, as rotors spun dangerously near the cliff and ocean spray battered them both.

Ultimately, Banks was carried down to safety, completely unharmed. There have been several deadly accidents on Morro Rock on recent years. Climbing is currently banned.

Morro Bay Fire Captain Todd Gailey advised fiancees everywhere to propose, "Where you’re not in danger of falling off a cliff," he told The Associated Press
