Our favorite Lois Lane, Teri Hatcher, is joining 'Supergirl'

This time, she's not exactly helping our hero.

Teri Hatcher, who stole our hearts as Lois Lane in the '90s on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, will soon be returning to the DC superhero universe.

Supergirl has tapped the Desperate Housewives alumna for a multi-episode arc in the coming months. According to Warner Bros. Television, Hatcher will be playing a mysterious new role that will become the new Big Bad of Season 2.

"No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane," said Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer of Supergirl. "To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”

So far, Season 2 of Supergirl has focused on the machinations of the evil organization Cadmus, which is dedicated to capturing and destroying aliens on Earth. The previous leader, Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong), was arrested in the midseason finale, but it's possible that Hatcher's character has been pulling her strings behind the scenes and is the true villain of the season.

If that's the case, we'll hopefully see an on-screen reunion between Hatcher and her Lois & Clark co-star Dean Cain, who plays Jeremiah Danvers -- Supergirl's adoptive father -- who was captured by Cadmus and has been hidden away by the organization for years.

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW.
