You're on holiday with your family and suddenly the owners of your rental show up, heralding a disaster across the country.

It's the thrilling set-up of Netflix's Leave the World Behind, which dropped its first teaser today following the sneak peek the streaming service gave us in August.

In the trailer for writer-director Sam Esmail's adaptation of Rumaan Alam's novel, we meet a family on vacation in a luxe holiday home: Amanda (Julia Roberts), Clay (Ethan Hawke) and their kids, Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie). But when two strangers show up — G.H. (Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la) — in formalwear, saying the house belongs to them, and warning of a colossal cyberattack across America, the group faces the mysterious threat together.

How to watch: Leave the World Behind is in select cinemas from Nov. 24 and streaming on Netflix Dec. 8.
