The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against President Donald Trump's attempt to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration policy on Thursday, just days after ruling employers can't fire people for being LGBTQ. This prompted Trump to tweet, "Do you get the impression that the Supreme Court doesn't like me?"

"Yes I do," said Late Show host Stephen Colbert. "They wear black robes, and some of your fans have been known to wear the white ones."

The rulings were two hope spots in an otherwise crumbling world plagued by a deadly pandemic Trump keeps trying to downplay. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, the president expressed a belief that some people wear face masks not to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, but to indicate that they don't like him.

"'And it's not just the masks either — what about all those protesters wearing ventilators to show that they're anti-Trump?'" said Colbert, imitating the president. "'And don't get me started on those socialists in their government-issued antifa bodybags.'"

Protests against police brutality and racism are also still ongoing, as are the needless deaths of Black people at the hands of police. On June 12, Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe shot 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks twice in the back, killing him. Rolfe now faces criminal charges including felony murder, which has apparently outraged his fellow officers.

"They're getting rid of the bad apple, which you'd think all the good apples would be excited about to maintain, you know, barrel freshness," said Colbert. Instead, several Atlanta police officers called in sick in protest.

"Yes, these officers are simply fed up with scrutiny over the shooting of unarmed Black men," said Colbert. "You can learn more about it in the upcoming film Three Weeks Held Accountable."
