Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' gets mind-bending, spine-chilling trailer

Director Christoper Nolan returns to the mind-bending thriller game with the first trailer for Tenet.

Starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, and more, the mysterious preview gives fans plenty to grab onto — the threat of nuclear war, high-speed action sequences, time travel, ghosts (maybe??) — but nothing to tie it all together.

Since announcing the film's title earlier this year, Nolan has been incredibly secretive with Tenet's plot, confirming only that it is set in the world of "international espionage." In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this week, Nolan teased that the film crosses multiple genres and is without a doubt the "most ambitious" project he and producer Emma Thomas have ever made.

Buckle up: Tenet is due in theaters July 17, 2020.
