Blumhouse's trailer for The Black Phone 2 is deeply chilling material and not just because it's set in the snow.

Ethan Hawke returns for another round as the terrifying villain, The Grabber, who seeks revenge on now 17-year-old Finn (Mason Thames, also returning), the boy who escaped his suburban basement lair in the first film. Finn begins seeing visions of boys being stalked at a winter camp, Alpine Lake, and it appears he hasn't entirely evaded The Grabber.

The Black Phone 2 sees the first film's Sinister writing team, C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson, reuniting to further adapt Joe Hill's short story.

The Black Phone 2 hits cinemas Oct. 17.
