Giving Tuesday is here, and it's time to make a difference
The holiday season is in full swing and after a long weekend of shopping and searching for deals, we shift gears to Giving Tuesday – a day for charitable donations and giving back.
Whatever form your good acts take, it's important to remember that the spirit of the season isn't in materialism, but in making the lives of others a bit brighter.
The good folks at eBay found that nearly three-quarters of Americans are more excited to give someone a gift if it benefits a charity.* That's why, through the Giving Tuesday Charity Shop and Gifts that Give Back, eBay is delivering the widest selection of gifts that support nonprofit organizations as well as a new way to give in-kind donations.
eBay is also leveraging its just launched ShopBot beta – a personalized shopping assistant accessible via Facebook Messenger – to make giving even more social this holiday. For every item purchased through ShopBot on Giving Tuesday, eBay will donate $5 to nonprofit Kiva, which connects people through lending to alleviate poverty.
In addition, shoppers who purchase any experience or item from eBay’s Charity Shop will have the chance to win an amazing Los Angeles experience, including a personal styling session with actress and style icon Rachel Bilson.
