What makes a 'War Dog?' The psychology of a hustler
In the forthcoming film War Dogs, which is based on a true story, two friends in their early 20s living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War go into the arms-dealing business together to hustle their way to $300 million dollars.
The partners, played by Miles Teller and Jonah Hill, respectively, exploit a government initiative that lets small businesses bid on U.S. Military contracts. They start small, but before long find themselves overwhelmed and in trouble when they land a $300 million deal to help arm the Afghan Military.
They go into business with some shady people and before long begin breaking the law as a means to score a huge payday. With some help from Kelley Kitley, L.C.S.W., we dove into some of the psychology that may have gone into the decisions the War Dogs made along the way.
