When it comes to peak performance, speed is everything — and athletes know better than most that every second counts. In 2017, athletics is more closely tied to technology than ever before, and data provides the necessary insights for shaving those precious seconds off everything from personal records to the time it takes to design and build a new pair of street-ready kicks.

This October, adidas is celebrating speed and futuristic fashion with AM4LDN, Made for London. Mashable has exclusive access to this invite-only event, occurring October 18 through 21, and will be bringing readers a sneak peek at the exciting goings on.

The London project is the first in a series of six global AM4 events commemorating the debut of the SPEEDFACTORY, an innovative, hyper-flexible shoe factory that combines quality craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. SPEEDFACTORY is a revolutionary new concept for data-fueled footwear design and production. The state-of-the-art manufacturing process allows for a customised "co-creation" experience, in which consumers have the utmost level of creative control over their sneaker designs.

The process — which can bring a design from idea to finished product in just four hours — ensures that each product is engineered with unprecedented speed and precision. The SPEEDFACTORY's plethora of design options lead to optimised performance, and the end result is a constantly evolving product that can adapt to any type of running environment, athletic demands, or street style.

At AM4LDN, Mashable and the other invited attendees will be exploring data visualisations, perusing SPEEDFACTORY-produced sneakers, and tooling around with devices in the "running lab," including impressive motion-tracking platforms. Invitees will also get a chance to learn about the exciting innovations shaping the future of sustainable manufacturing, and will get a first-hand glimpse behind the scenes of SPEEDFACTORY's inner workings.

The SPEEDFACTORY sneaker designs aren't the only adaptive element of AM4LDN; the project itself is driven by data from local runners, which has inspired the designs debuting at the launch. These unique footwear solutions are specific to the challenges and intricacies of running on London's streets. AM4 will be constantly iterating, with each athlete's data used to shape future designs. So just as cities are ever-improving, so too is the technology used to master their streets.

Together with YouTuber Supersaf, Mashable will be bringing an exclusive first look at the AM4LDN event, along with that SPEEDFACTORY technology. It's the future of manufacturing and co-creation, and you can join via Instagram story on October 18.
