Grab your camera and hit the road -- National Geographic's 27th annual Traveler Photo Contest is underway.
Amateur and professional photographers alike are encouraged to enter the contest, which closes June 30, with photos from around the globe. Official categories include: Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place and Spontaneous Moments.

But the contest is not all for fun and bragging rights; photographers will also be competing for the grand prize of an eight-day expedition to Costa Rica and the Panama Canal for two people, as well as additional prizes for second and third place.
