Sony and the World Photography Organization have announced the shortlist for their 2016 World Photography Awards, which they claim as “the world’s biggest photography competition." Photographers from 186 countries submitted more than 200,000 photos spread across multiple categories, including "daily life," "portraiture" and "landscapes." The winners will take home a combined prize of $30,000.

The winners of individual categories will be announced on March 29, and overall winners of the Professional, Open, Student and Youth divisions will be announced April 21.
