Coded to Wear: 3D-printed fashion takes center stage at CES

The practical applications of 3D printing are still being worked out, but last week at CES in Las Vegas 3D Systems showed off how the technology can be used to create fashion pieces that are just as viable as anything you might buy off the rack.

Included in the company's display were 3D-printed dresses, shoes and even handbags, illustrating how 3D printing may be the new frontier for innovating the manufacturing of what we wear.

Unlike early examples of 3D-printed fashion in years past, which were often unwieldy and pretty much unwearable for all but the most adventurous, 3D Systems' display revealed items that wouldn't be out of place in any normal clothing boutique today.
