Something incredible happens when you attach a 4K camera to a drone

We can never get enough of aerial drone footage, but your typical drone can only go so far in terms of quality. This is due to simple weight constraints -- it's easy to get a tiny GoPro camera airborne, but film-quality cameras usually weigh way too much for most drones to carry.

The videographers at Brain Farm would have none of that. The group hacked an Aerigon drone -- already one of the most advanced machines of its kind -- to be able to carry the 14-pound (without the lens) Phantom Flex4k high-speed digital camera.

The result could've been an expensive disaster, since the fully equipped video rig, consisting of a Phantom Flex4K camera and an Aerigon drone, cost around $250,000.

But the drone performed admirably, and the result is a 4K video taken at 1,000 frames per second. The video looks stunning, especially at slow motion -- we definitely hope to see something similar on surfing spots or snowboarding slopes in the future.
