Reportedly, that's the number of phones Apple offloaded to eager customers this weekend, with no shortages. Only 5% bought the 4GB model, with the majority choosing the 8GB version. AT&T, alas, didn't perform as flawlessly as Apple: activiation issues plagued users.

We're just interested to see the developer ecosystem that will now burgeon around the iPhone: like Facebook apps, MySpace widgets and Wii-specific interfaces, I expect hundreds of social sites and startups will look to siphon that iPhone buzz by developing for the JobsPhone. Judging by what's in our inbox today, it's already happening.

Below, an unlucky entrepreneur fails to buy out all the Apple store's iPhones and sell them on eBay: a plentiful supply meant that no one paid more than retail.
