Convenience store 7-Eleven is celebrating its birthday on Friday, and to mark the occasion, stores nationwide are giving away free Slurpees (it's July 11 -- 7/11, get it?!).

To get your free small Slurpee, just show up at a store (find one here) between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. local time on Friday. In Australia, free Slurpees are given out in November (on 7/11, as dates are formatted day/month).

This is the twelfth year 7-Eleven has given out Slurpees on July 11, but the brightly-colored partly-frozen drinks have been around since 1966. Since then, the chain has sold more than 7 billion of them, at a rate of 13 million a month (with plenty of celebrity endorsements).

And if you like free stuff, you're in luck: Each day next week, 7-Eleven will offer free snacks, including cookies, more Slurpees and birthday cake-flavored M&Ms. There’s just one catch to this: You first have to download the company's app, which is available for both iOS and Android.
