He sang in church choir

Driver's stepfather is a Baptist minister, and young Adam and his sister sang in the church, where his mother played piano. Driver also sang in his school choir and acted in plays.

He used to be a marine

Early in 2002, Driver and his friends felt restless and patriotic after the attacks of 9/11. "I wanted to do something," Driver said on Fresh Air. "[I] wanted to test my manhood and serve my country and just get even...and get away from home." He was never deployed due to a mountain biking injury, but persevered until he realized deployment wouldn't be possible.

He runs a non-profit

In order to bring together the two most formative parts of his career -- acting and the military -- Driver founded Arts in the Armed Forces (AITAF), a nonprofit that brings quality theater productions to the military at no cost.

"Something I learned in the Marine Corps that I’ve applied to acting is, one, taking direction, and then working with a group of people to accomplish a mission and knowing your role within that team," Driver told The New York Times in 2013.

He studied drama at Juilliard

"Those moments when things do click or make sense or when projects work out are gratifying -- and even the bad moments are really educational," Driver told The Juilliard Journal. "It seems like acting continually needs to be a never-ending exercise in patience, and that doesn’t end just because you don’t go to Juilliard anymore. The good and the bad were both equally beneficial."

He originally passed on HBO's Girls

"I thought TV was evil," Driver told the Times, noting that at the time he acted exclusively in theater. Still, he eventually recognized that this was a rare chance. "I know so many good actors who haven’t had the opportunity that I’m getting now," Driver said.

He's married

Driver met Joanna Tucker at Juilliard, and they married in 2013. She serves as artistic director for AITAF -- and they seem perfect together. Cue the emo response tweets.
