Classic 90s 'Star Wars' games finally getting a re-release

The classic PC Star Wars titles are finally getting a re-release, allowing fans to play X Wing and TIE Fighter on modern computers.

Disney Interactive teamed up with GOG.com to release the two classic Star Wars games, along with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and classic adventure games like Sam & Max Hit the Road, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition.

The X Wing and TIE Fighter titles published in 1993 and 1994 respectively, and were considered very sophisticated, fun space shooters for PC. Fans have been clamoring for a re-release of the titles, since getting them to run on modern computers requires quite a bit of work. The same applies to Sam & Max Hit the Road, an adventure game known for its twisted humor.

GOG will release more 20 LucasArts title in total, all of which are DRM-free.
