Aaron Paul, we have just one question for you: Why, bitch?

The Breaking Bad star recently pranked fans by appearing on Periscope to unveil details of a secret project he was working on with the show's creator, Vince Gilligan. The tomfoolery began three days ago on Instagram, with Paul telling fans he had "a new gig that I am over the moon about."

That new gig? A brand new Breaking Bad spinoff starring his character, Jesse Pinkman.

Or so we were told.

Can't wait to tell you what this is all about. It's top secret for now but you all will know soon enough. It's a new gig that I am over the moon about. Thank you angel for sending this to me from across the country. Love you lots and lots. A photo posted by Aaron Paul (@glassofwhiskey) on Jun 13, 2015 at 6:50pm PDT

Two days later, he went on Periscope to tell fans a Breaking Bad spinoff about Pinkman was in the works, claiming Vince Gilligan gave him the go-ahead to make the announcement.

"I hope you're as excited as I am about it," he said, before immediately backtracking and revealing it was all a lie. A cruel, cruel lie. "I started to believe it," he joked.

The actor must have felt a bit guilty, later tweeting out an apology to fans.

Sorry for the joke everybody. I love you all so much. Hugs and kisses.— Aaron Paul (@aaronpaul_8) June 16, 2015

Of course, that didn't totally satiate some heartbroken fans.

In the meantime, fans can watch the actual Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul, starring Bob Odenkirk on AMC.
