The mass closure of shopping malls across America has left retail skeletons rotting in suburbia.

Photographer Johnny Joo visited the abandoned structures, capturing the eerie aftermath of economic shifts with his camera. In a new series of images, Joo documents the Rolling Acres Mall, a once-vibrant shopping center in Akron, Ohio, that operated from 1975 to 2008.

Seven years after its closure, the mall's crumbling interior is covered in a blanket of snow. The glass ceiling is shattered, leaving Rolling Acres open to the elements, creating a wintery wonderland that's more post-apocalyptic movie than dreamy white meadow.
