Acer Aspire S3, the company's foray into the world of Intel's Ultrabooks, is coming to the U.S. this week.
Ultrabooks strive to be simultaneously powerful and lightweight. The 13.3-inch Acer Aspire S3 is 0.51 inches thin and weighs only 2.98 pounds. However, in that elegant package you'll find quite a lot of horsepower: an Intel Core i5 CPU, 4 GB of RAM memory, a 20 GB solid state drive and a 320 GB hard drive -- all of which indicate a solid performer.
Thanks to Acer's Instant On and Instant Connect technologies, the laptop claims to resume from sleep in less than 2 seconds and connect to the Internet in 2.5 seconds.
The device starts at $899, making it an interesting competitor to Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air, which starts at $1299.
