Nowhere’s perfect: A human rights activist continues her fight from Lebanon in the U.S.

Mirna Haidar is an activist who has survived bombs, surveillance and detainment from her government. She fled to Michigan on a tourist visa. Once she was in the United States, she applied for asylum. Though Haidar no longer has to dodge bombs or political harassment, she continues to face persecution in her new country in her new identity as an American Muslim.
