Here's some shocking news: Adele's 25 was the best-selling album of 2015, according to Billboard.

The British singer's triumphant third album sold 363,000 album units in the week ending Dec. 31, of which 307,000 were pure album sales. The record also ended the year as the Billboard 200's no. 1 album for six straight weeks. In the U.S., 25 sold 7.44 million copies through the week ending Dec. 31.

25 also finished the year as the "biggest seller of any calendar year since 2004," says Billboard, when Usher's Confessions sold 7.98 million copies.

It's been a banner year for Adele's third studio effort, which was easily iTunes' best-selling album of the year as well.

The album isn't available on streaming services yet, which likely helped spur along record sales. In its first three days, it sold 2.42 million copies, easily smashing the 2001 record previously set by NSYNC's No Strings Attached.

Let's see what new records it breaks in 2016.
