LONDON -- In less than seven days, Adele has broken the UK record for first week album sales.

As of Thursday, sales for Adele's third album reached 737,000, passing the 696,000 opening week sales that Oasis achieved for their 1997 record Be Here Now, The Official Charts Company announced.

However, Oasis released their record-holding album on a Thursday, giving them only three days to amass figures that could have potentially been even higher.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Adele topped *NSYNC's 2001 record in the U.S., selling 2.4 million copies in just over three days.

Final sales figures of 25 will be announced on OfficialCharts.com at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
