Amid the online messages congratulating Adele on her newborn boy, Twitter users are sending the Grammy-winning singer hateful tweets. Adele and boyfriend Simon Konecki confirmed the birth Sunday after having teased the pregnancy on her website in June.
The tweet causing the most uproar said, "Aw Adele gave birth to a baby. Is it fat and handicapped lol? Just murder it already lol." User @PerfFemale sent the tweet, but the account has since been taken down.
Other tweets, including one from TV personality Joan Rivers, ridicule Adele's and the baby's weight.

Jabs at Adele's weight had been surfacing during her pregnancy as well.
Maybe if Adele spent less time chasing pavements and more time chasing something that moved she wouldn't be so fat— t (@tom_dodsworth) October 17, 2012
People, however, have come to Adele's defense.
