The good news: Adele is, at long last, nearly ready to share her followup to 2011's blockbuster album 21.
The bad news: We still don't know when, exactly, we'll actually get to hear it.
The billion-time Grammy winner (rough estimate) set hearts racing on Sunday, when viewers of The X Factor in the UK were treated to a mysterious commercial that seemed to feature a snippet of a new Adele song. Rumors about a new album and tour have swirled since 2014, when Adele implied that she'd be releasing another age-inspired record later that year.
While the singer hasn't confirmed or denied whether the ad was, in fact, a preview of what's to come, she did tweet on Wednesday confirming that a new album is on the way. She also revealed a few tantalizing hints about what to expect from it: "My last record was a break-up record," she explains, "and if I had to label this one I would call it a make-up record."
You do you, Adele.

Adele caps off her note with an apology for making us wait -- "but," as she writes, "you know, life happened."
That's an understatement. Since 21's release, Adele has kept busy writing, composing and recording the theme for 2012's Skyfall; winning a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar for said song; having surgery for a polyp on her powerful vocal chords; and, oh yeah, having a baby named Angelo.
Even so, we can probably agree that the lag between 21 and 25 has been long enough -- especially since at this point, Adele is actually 27 years old.
