"New York, say 'hello' to Adele!"

The first preview for Adele Live in New York City features backstage prep for the singer's concert at Radio City Music Hall, which was staged Nov. 17. It's pretty standard behind-the-scenes imagery -- cameras and microphones being set, the star in the makeup chair. But like anything else, it feels intensely emotional when set to an Adele song. A crowd of thousands swells in the background until they applaud Adele, making us feel present even though we're not actually there.

The special was directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and produced by Lorne Michaels, Jonathan Dickins, and Adele herself (because what can't she do?).

Adele Live In New York City will air at 10 p.m. on NBC Dec. 14.
