Adele used to be obsessed with heartbreak of a different kind.

The 25 singer, who recently released her first music video in three years, tells i-D that when she was younger, she originally wanted to be a heart surgeon instead of a singer.

"I wanted to fix people's hearts," she says.

The reason? When Adele was 10 years old, her grandfather died, leaving her "devastated." So decided to devote her career to fixing people's hearts.

The singer gave up on her medical ambition when she later discovered "fun -- and boys" in school. However, if you ask Adele's grandmother, she basically still heals hearts for a living.

"I played her the unmixed version of 'Someone Like You,'" she remembers. "She was pretty teary. 'You are a surgeon,' she said, 'You're fixing people's hearts.'"

If that's not the cutest thing you've heard all day, then you're probably lying.

In addition, the songstress shot down rumors that 25 is possibly, maybe about the same ex who inspired 21: "That's over and done with, thank f*ck."

She also explains that being a mother to 3-year-old Angelo, among other things, is what kept her from recording an album sooner.

"I was being a mum. I couldn't rush it," she says. "And you've got to give people a chance to miss you."

Other tidbits from the lengthy interview include the TV shows Adele loves (Teen Mom, the Walking Dead, American Horror Story) and the song that makes her cry ("Jealous" by Labrinth).
