Adele's Tuesday concert at New York City's Radio City Music Hall was bathed in red, white and blue at one point, as the singer offered a moving tribute to the city of Paris.

Cheers went up from the crowd when images of the Eiffel Tower and the capital's cityscape flashed onto the backdrop behind the stage while the singer performed "Hometown Glory," her debut single from her first album, 19.

The lyrics took on a special poignancy too, following the events of Friday Nov. 13 and the ensuing optimism and defiance from the people of Paris.

"Shows that we ain't gonna take it," she sang. "Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit. Shows that we are united."
