Ai Weiwei has debuted his newest installation in Berlin outside the concert house of the Gendarmenmarkt. He adorned the columns of the venue with 14,000 life jackets previously worn by refugees trying to make it to Europe, in the hopes of highlighting the ongoing refugee crisis.

This is Weiwei's most recent in a series of outspoken pieces trying to call attention to the crisis and the response of European governments. Berlin is currently home to 80,000 refugees and plans for the arrival of 30,000 more in 2016.
