That project is one step closer to becoming reality, as today it was announced that the FAA has certified a couple of integral systems to the operations of the network, according to Shane McGlaun at SlipperyBrick. The two certifications it recieved had to do with licensure to install the network equipment on boeing 767-200 aircraft, and the authorization to build aircraft parts in their Bensenville plant in Illinois.
As Tom discussed with me on the show, they're due to start servicing with Internet service American Airlines and Virgin America flights across America. As I said during the conversation, despite my reservations about being expected to work during flight, now, the move is an obvious step forward in terms of productivity and entertainment.
