Fans of Harry Potter have been laying flowers at Platform 9 3/4 to pay tribute to actor Alan Rickman.

Rickman, who played professor Severus Snape in the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's book series, died on Thursday at the age of 69.

In the hours since the news broke, fans have turned London's King's Cross train station -- which is the site of the magical platform which Harry Potter characters use to catch the train to Hogwarts -- into a miniature memorial.
