AllRecipes Adds Community to Cooking Site

AllRecipes has added a community to its online resource for cooking. Now you can peruse the profiles of those that have contributed to the site's new community.

Search by country, city or region if you're looking for a location-based item or member. You can also filter through users based on their level of submission or review activity, or ranking. On a user's profile you'll get the basic info about them, as well as the recipes they've reviewed or submitted. Check out their photos, menus and favorite food list. The downfall to the layout of these user profiles is the fact that many of these categories are broken up or incorrectly prioritized when it comes to space allocation on the profile, or the order in which they appear. While this is a semi-customization feature for users, it can hinder the flow of the site.

This new community could use some more sharing features as well, to better engage users (i.e. RSS feeds). To help with site navigation, having usernames be links to their profiles would be helpful. There are also a few features with AllRecipes that lets you use your profile as a start page of sorts, and these could be better integrated with the community options as well.

Other sites include GroupRecipes, Foodio54, and Snooth.
