Amazon to Stream CBS's 'Under The Dome' Exclusively

Amazon will get exclusive streaming rights to CBS's Under The Dome TV series this summer as the online retailer continues to beef up its entertainment offerings.

CBS will broadcast the show, which is based on the Stephen King book of the same name, on June 24. Four days later, Amazon Prime members will be able to stream the episodes. An Amazon rep confirmed that this the first exclusive for Prime Instant Video on an in-season, scripted series from a major network.

The announcement comes a week after Amazon announced it will be the exclusive online subscription home for the PBS hit Downton Abbey starting June 18.

Amazon Prime, which is available for a $79 annual fee (which includes free two-day shipping), currently offers more than 36,000 movies and TV episodes to stream.

Under The Dome, which is produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, tells the story of a small New England town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome, a plot that closely mirrors that of 2007's The Simpsons Movie.
