Amazon wants to deliver plumbers and electricians to your door along with your packages.

The online retailer has rolled out a service called Amazon Local Services in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle that recommends handymen, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The referrals come after a consumer has purchased an item that requires installation, like a ceiling fan or a car radio.

Reuters reported in June that Amazon was working on such a plan, but reps from Amazon could not be reached for comment.

The idea behind Amazon Local Services is to narrow the gap between brick-and-mortar retailers, which regularly offer such referrals. Yelp, Angie's List and Craigslist also provide such listings, as does Pro.com, a venture founded by former Amazon exec Matt Williams and backed by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Amazon aims to differentiate its service by offering a money-back guarantee on work performed by contractors, according to the report.
