LONDON -- Amazon has done a deal with one of the UK's "big four" supermarkets, Morrisons, meaning people here will soon be able to buy fresh groceries from the retailer.

Under the new deal, hundreds of fresh, frozen and non-perishable Morrisons products will be available to UK Amazon Prime Now and Amazon Pantry customers, who pay a £79 ($109) annual subscription fee.

Amazon Pantry launched in the UK last year offering a 60-minute delivery service, but did not offer fresh produce.

“The combination of our fresh food expertise with Amazon’s online and logistics capabilities is compelling," David Potts, Chief Executive of Morrisons, says in a statement.

Online grocery retailing in the UK is worth nearly £9 billion ($12.5 billion) a year and is forecast to almost double in value to over £17 billion ($23.6 billion) by 2020, according to food and grocery researchers IGD.

According to an Amazon spokesperson, the service will launch "in the coming months".
