Today, Amazon Payments is hoping to bring that kind of experience to other developers, merchants and potential app stores with the Amazon Mobile Payments Service (MPS).

Amazon MPS lets users use their Amazon.com account and 1-click payment information while inside a mobile application or on a mobile website. Amazon MPS lets users make one-time payments, 1-click purchases, and get refunds or cancel transactions.

Developers have an easy method of processing payments, without having to deal with gathering specific credit card or payment information and users can login to a trusted system with an existing account. For developers interested in integrating Amazon MPS into your apps or sites, you can create an Amazon FPS developer account and check out the resource center.

Both Google Checkout and PayPal have offered mobile payment support for quite some time. What sets Amazon's implementation apart is that it can be built into a mobile application -- not just a mobile website. For mobile app developers that want to offer either an enhanced buying experience or the ability to do in-app purchases a la the iPhone, this could be a great way to achieve that goal.
